Questions, answered calmly
Frequently asked questions
The honest answers to what people ask before they trust a neighbourhood app with their street.
Is Pryer just another crime-panic app?
No — it is built to be the opposite. Pryer is about peace of mind, not paranoia: timely, factual awareness set against official recorded-incident context, so a quiet street does not read as a dangerous one. If an app leaves you more anxious than informed, it is not doing its job. Pryer is designed to leave you calmer and more in control.
Does Pryer track me or my family?
No. Pryer watches places — your home, a parent’s street, a school — not people. It never tracks a person’s location and never sells location data. You get awareness of a neighbourhood without anyone being surveilled.
Is Pryer free? What costs money?
The essentials are free for everyone, always: the map, timely alerts near home, reporting an incident, and asking your street for footage. Pryer+ adds extensions — watching more places, escalation for serious alerts, a household plan, and records you can export — but you are never charged to see your area or report an incident.
Is the crime data accurate — and does it mean my area is dangerous?
Pryer shows official recorded-incident context, presented honestly as a record — never a danger rating. Recorded incidents are not the same as total crime, and a number read out of context can mislead. We frame the data so you can understand an area calmly rather than fear it.
Is Pryer an emergency service?
No. Pryer is a community awareness tool, not an emergency service. In an emergency — a crime in progress, a fire, or a medical emergency — always call 000.
Which countries is Pryer available in?
Pryer is made in Melbourne, Australia, and launching in Australia first — its data and context are built for Australian streets. More countries are on the roadmap.
How does Pryer protect privacy?
By design. Incidents show an approximate area, locations snap to nearby roads, and detail maps are deliberately blurred — no exact pins. Photos and video are checked automatically before they are shown. And Pryer never tracks people or sells location data.
How do you keep reports trustworthy rather than gossip?
Reports are structured around what happened, where, and when — behaviour, not a person’s appearance. Neighbours can corroborate (“I saw this too”), which builds a signal of how reliable a report is, and everything is moderated. It is facts and corroboration, not a social feed.
Do I need an account?
Yes — a quick one. You can sign in with one tap using Apple, Google, or Facebook, so there is no form to fill in. An account keeps the community trustworthy (real reports, victim protections, moderation). Pryer is not anonymous, but it also does not track you.
What languages does Pryer support?
The whole app works in 10 languages, so a family whose first language is not English can understand what is happening on their street and report in the language they think in.
Will Pryer sell my data or show me ads?
No. Pryer never sells your location data, and the model is not built on advertising. The essentials are free, and Pryer+ subscriptions fund the service — not selling you or your data.
Who is behind Pryer?
Pryer is a product of Riemann Solutions Pty Ltd, made in Melbourne, Australia — a calm, privacy-first neighbourhood tool, built so the essentials stay free for the community.
